Artist: Lisa Who
Studio: Curve

Born in Australia, Lisa Who has spent the past ten years travelling, working and exhibiting throughout Europe before establishing a permanent studio in Liverpool in 2005.

She is also the co-director and curator of Curve Gallery Liverpool: an independent international gallery concept.

Painter and printmaker, Who creates bold black and white images through the repetition and layering of the bodies pieces, forming complex silhouettes of the archetypal female. She creates work from life and her practice is both influenced and inspired by the collected material, environments and experiences from her travelling.

Fragmented figures and recognisable pattern, from architectural and urban details, are repeated, assembled and layered using both relief and intaglio print. Lisa’s methods also include rubbings, paper cut-outs, photography, life drawing and oil painting.

Lisa Who continues to exhibit both nationally and internationally and will exhibit new work inspired by a four month stay in Northern Spain at Editions Gallery for the Liverpool Biennial 2010.
