With a forty year history of printmaking on site, the Bluecoat now has two fantastic Print Studios open to the public.

Local printmakers and regular hirers demonstrate techniques and advise you on how to get involved.

Intaglio Print Studio

The Etching/Intaglio Studio is clean, safe, light and airy, and current working practice is geared towards new developments in ‘safe’ printmaking.

Silkscreen Studio

Equipment and materials on site include:

  • Three vacuum screen beds accommodating screens up to 60 x 70 cm and 90 x 110cm outside frame measurement
  • A large Natgraph exposure unit able to accommodate screens up to 2 x 1.5m outside frame measurement
  • Small portable exposure unit made by University of the West of England
  • A fully stocked washout unit
  • Drying cupboard able to accommodate screens up to 80 x 100cm outside frame measurement
  • Large drying rack for finished prints
  • Acrylic medium and photo emulsion
